I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

(The part where two eyes that wink appear and below is the title of the video). There's nothing wrong with the typo but I just thougt I'd let you know in case you don't know.

  • I have a best friend like that. He wanted to try dating we did and we realized we were just in different places in our lives that dating wouldn’t work. We decided instead of ruining our friendship by dating and it crash we would just be best friends. We are so close so I get what you mean you wish that best friend could be your romantic soulmate. I would rather have his unconditional love as my friend than lost it from a romantic relationship going sour!

  • I know this is a month old but I had to comment! My boyfriend has a mild form of Tourette’s and it is definitely a very interesting and diverse disability. He has mainly visual ticks but he does have some verbal as well. His arm does a jerking motion, his eyes tick, and he makes random grunting noises kind of similar to clearing your throat. I’ve been with him for about 3 years now so I don’t really notice his ticks anymore especially because they are so mild but it’s always a very interesting conversation to have with others when they notice his body ticking or hearing the grunting! I always take the opportunity to explain that he has Tourette’s and educate that it can come in many forms.

  • My first few relationships were with visually impaired individuals that I went to the Washington State School for the Blind with. Even now, though she's currently undiagnosed and we're trying to get her doctor willing to actually go through the steps to diagnose her, my fiance has some sort of condition like ADHD. It's definitely something she struggles with every single day and makes "normal" adult responsibilities extremely difficult. Her doctor thinks it's just because of her depression and we've tried to assert that the depression is due to this other issue and if we could ger her formally diagnosed it would help her depression too. Anyway... So technically speaking all of my relationships have been with someone with a disability of some sort. I've never done the whole dating thing. All of my relationships have been with people who were my friends first. Personally it's easier to see if you're compatible if you're friends first an not trying to impress someone. Sorry for the rambling comment.

  • As a disabled person I find it hard to date. Because sometimes I don't feel like a normal person and that I'm capable of being loved because of the effect my disability has on my body. So I just keep to myself. I find this video amazing because I love how Molly is so confident and romantically accepting of those who even have disabilities that are different from her own. And I really needed to hear this video especially when she said "You don't always pick who you are going to fall for. Even sometimes you wish you could. You know like sometimes you fall for people who aren't ideal for you and you wish you could fall out of that love but you can't.". I got out of a long-term relationship with someone who I believed was my soulmate. After we broke up tho I realized that even tho they were a nice person their actions were self-centered and cruel. What they did to me was wrong. But even to this day I can't not fall for them and they are still on my mind. I wish I could fall out of love with them.

He says he loves me and cares about me, but that the kind of love he has just isn't in that romantic kind of way. And it's not because we dont have good chemistry or that he isn't attracted to me. Because he is very attracted to me and he feels deeply for me. ... but he just cant Love me in that way. He says he really really wish he could, but that he doesn't feel like he truly can. I'm honestly so confused about this, and it has been really hurting me. But also I never want him out of my life. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I honestly hope we can stay friends for a very long time. I Love him So Much. And that will never change.

  • Some life advice: a grown man that dates a girl in her early 20s and younger usually isn’t mature. That’s why women his age won’t date him. Apart from that I have very good experiences with dating older men. But I’m in my 30s so we’re at a similar place in our lives.

  • This is awesome to hear that you dated someone with Tourette’s!! My husband of 10 years has it, but you wouldn’t be able to tell anymore unless you knew what his ticks were. He’s been able to “cure” it with his diet. I felt the same as you when we were dating and he told me he had it. I wish he would be more active in the community though. His isn’t severe, but I wish he would help other kids know that there is hope and they can grow out of it and they can find love.

I did actually tell him very early on in the relationship, but I guess he didn't care and promptly forgot about that little detail? Lol years later when I was talking to a friend of ours about his kid having tics and I told him not to stress too much about it, tics suck but you live with it and I told him that I have Tourette syndrome, my ex was like WHAT? AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME? Like dude, first of all, I told you about it, and if you seriously haven't noticed my 30 different tics after 6 years maybe it's time to get over yourself?? Glad to be finally rid of him!!

As someone who has suffered from severe tourette's since childhood, I'm really saddened that you even brought up the stereotype of "cursing" and "saying bomb in an airport". Never in my life have I ever seen a person say something like that. Tics are usually repetitive movements or vocalizations. Educate yourself before you even bring up stereotypes.

  • I think many of us were attracted to wrong people, but if you would be true to yourself, you would realize, that an average older person always is more mature than a younger one, just because of learning during his years of life. I don't know who you dated and how experiencing his life was, probably he stood still for many years, taking me back that I even now still think, that you have some better skills than me as a "normal" disabled view person, but you may not trust your abilities... Oh and just btw, I always saw you, like all the others, as myself, I am understanding now even more, why there is so much of a problem with black people, yeah, that's a mostly, or only, US problem, like having guns, no acceptance for the world

A lot of people don’t want to connect with those who have a disability but I feel special connections really happen when disabled people get together and form friendships. • Being part of the chronic illness community makes dating challenging, although for me, I'm not interested in dating any more to the extent tha I used to be. My chronic illnesses have stolen my physical & (at times) mental energy as well. I don't feel I'd be able to be the girlfriend/wife the person would deserve & I have so much keeping me busy, dating really isn't on my radar right now. To be honest, I really don't mind if I don't ever date again or get married. However, if I did, I wouldn't have a problem dating someone with disabilities, as long as my disabilities didn't prevent me from helping them the way they deserve to be helped with their disabilities. I wouldn't want them to suffer because I couldn't help them the way they needed me to. However, if I met a guy at Church who I fell in love with & he with me, I would be grateful & make sure to cherish every moment together. And if we could make it work for both of us, I would be happy to be married in the future, just not right now.
