I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

  • What questions do you have for me about my guide dog Gallop's retirement? I want to do a dedicated Q&A video about the whole thing and I'll be pulling questions from the replies on this comment! Want more Molly? Watch this next!

  • Glad you don't take offense at things like "see you later". With the amount of language specificity and offense taken in today's world I'm surprised more blind people aren't demanding "sight" words be removed just like how people have demanded words like "man hole cover" be taken from use because how dare any object be "gendered" 🙄

  • So I played Goal Ball for my Univeristy, and I got to play against the US paralympic team. Another RP member here, I am Low Vision/Vision impaired, I have most of my central vision and pretty good acuity. But of course we all wore blackout goggles for Goal Ball, well I did infact get hit in the face with a goal ball. Minor concussion, and a cracked facial bone. It was not fun, but it was a great story to tell considering it was against the US team when this happened.

  • 8:08 I am legally blind and have been from birth. Later on, in life, I have had to start using power chairs and I wanted to know if there is a form of go ball for people in wheelchairs who are legally blind? 17:11 The one thing that I don't like is the fact that you said that one word that I HATE the most, "NORMAL"! The reason I hate that word so much is the fact that the society that we live in wants to "Change" us and those who are "normal" don't want to "ACCOMMODATE" to the needs of those people who are not willing to make things in life "ACCESSIBLE" which if others who are not "Disabled" never see the fact that a person is not a bad person for having a "disability". If a PWD says they want to have the same opportunities and access as someone without a disability then we need to make sure that "SOCIETY" stops trying to change us and they are willing to "ACCEPT" US for who we are and the word "DISABILITY" should never be considered as a "DIRTY 4 LETTERED WORD"? I have been legally blind my entire life and was born that way. When I was a kid I was told by my blind school and blind organizations like the blind center in Salt Lake City when I was younger that I needed to learn how to look "NORMAL" not look like I was "BLIND". Once nondisabled people are willing to accept us as PWD then we all can be on an equal playing field. Later on, in life, I started to have to use a power chair and I have had to do so much to struggle to just be "ACCEPTED" and to have people just "ACCOMMODATE" and not "DISCRIMINATE"? I'm sorry that I was very blunt about the second part of my comment but it's just that when I heard you use a word that just struck a cord I had to vent a little bit. I love your videos and I hope that you have a safe and Happy New Year???

  • So because of all these stories related to this school for the blind experience Molly had, I want to share an experience of my own that's pretty similar (I doubt that she'll notice this comment, but that's okay). I went to a vocational school in Tennessee, but in a different city from where I originally live. This vocational school is very much catered to helping disabled people work through their barriers and become successful in life. At the time of me enrolling for a one week trial, I realized that this could be a great opportunity for me as I was struggling with my own confidence/self-esteem both professionally and personally. My ADD and learning disability can sometimes work against me, and that was how I lost my second job as a school cafeteria worker. I know that being in that school had its fair share of challenges, but in the end, it really opened my eyes to so many different things I wasn't aware of prior to knowing about the school. Being in that kind of "bubble" where the people you know also have a disability (mental or physical) can definitely feel comforting, and one of the things I enjoyed the most from my experience there was the weekly karaoke, being introduced to yoga (which I now implement regularly) and learning how to play pool. I feel like this is something I'll have to share in more detail in a DM on Instagram, but to sum this all up, this video in particular reminded me of something special. If you're reading this Molly, I appreciate your kindness, your encouragement and your overall attitude towards life. Learning about blindness through you continues to mean something special to me, even though I'm not blind.

So im wondering if having a guide dog and a pet cat can cause confusion? Please don't take offense. I just wondered if there was a working pup in the home and another animal that is strictly a pet....can that cause confusion on their job or change the dynamic of the home at all?

  • So I'm stupid and my laptop wouldn't let me reply to Miss. Molly Burkes comment on the Gallpe Q&A, so I decided to comment on it instead. Do you think that Gallape has a good attitude going into retirement? Does he seem happier, sadder, or has he just accepted it as it is? Does he fully grasp the concept of retiring or does he just see it as a break or you not having a need for him anymore?

    -allisonlouise--allisonlouise-Vor 25 Tage

    Gortesh PolenziGortesh PolenziVor 25 Tage
  • Idk why I can't reply to your pin comment, like u just posted on your IG to do if you have a question for the Q & A. But my question is why are you rehoming gallop to your mom when he retires? Is it the Org you get him from forcing you to? I'd NEVER re-home my Service dog when he retires. He saves my life, then what? I just toss him out? I understand if it's the ORG making u, but if that's the case I'd DEFINITELY go with a different ORG, like guide dogs for the blind, who doesn't make u rehome retired guides. Joy Ross was allowed to keep her dog when she retired & got another. I understand having to re-home a basic pet, due to new service dogs picking up there bad pet habits a Service dog can't have, however Gallop was trained as a Service dog, and should still act like a well-balanced pet even in retirement. He shouldn't form too many bad habits. Unless theres more reason your retiring him? But I'd never retire my medical alerts & responses, mobility, and psych, Service dog. I wouldn't throw him out just bc I no longer use him. And he'll learn in retirement, he no longer has to task for me, and Probably will be too old & tired to do so when he retires anyway, that he'll just be done. But he'll still act like a perfect old pet, without added bad habits so severe the new dog could learn them. Bc he has a Service dog temp to begin with, so wouldn't form things like that. The majority of service dogs aren't re-homed when retired, let alone guide dogs were there primarly work & tasks are out of the home anyway. (Unlike a medical alert dog, where it's all the time. Although again, even my dog will learn he no longer needs to alert & task. He'll learn the new young dog has taken the lead & that my dog can just be a tired old man). I'm just confused why you'd re-home, even to family, a service dog. Even retired. Unless the org is making u, but then I'd go with a different one. Bc I wouldn't just use my dog while it's convenient then re-home him like he didn't spend the last 10 years by my side. That would be so tramatic for him as well. Even if it was with my mom, who he loves. Bc he knows me as his life, he's been with me his entire life (like gallop has been with u almost his entire life), and so to then be like "Thanks for spending 24/7 with me. Now that your old go live else where" I'd never re-home my retired SD, and if a program made me, I'd never go with them again, that's for sure.

  • Hi Molly. You can no longer add any comments to that chain for some odd reason so here is my question: Have you ever considered making an invention to help blind people see? • Are you kidding me? The word bullying needs to be censored or her video gets demonetized? What ever happened to education and fighting the stigma? We need kids to feel comfortable and safe to talk about it. Not ashamed. “Trigger word” my ass. Put a trigger warning. This isn’t how to do that. DEhave needs to learn some common sense. Believe it or not removing the word doesn’t make the issue any less real.

  • My friend went to the school of the blind in North Carolina and I went to the NC School of Science and Math. Both are state run boarding schools. Our experiences were so different. He was allowed almost no independence as a teen. Not allowed to go off campus like I was at my school. Also he was advanced in math. A university was next to his school so he had to fight extremely hard to be able to take some math there since he had taken all the math at his school. It seemed his school babied them and didn't prepare them for the real world. He has very limited sight in one eye similar to your boyfriend so doesn't use a cane or dog and gets around independently now.

I personally would have gotten motion-sick but if all your work is tactile/audio, maybe that is less of a problem? Of course, I'm not suggesting a bus is the most comfortable place to do homework but was it feasible? About organization: You've shown us your home and how beautifully organized it HAS TO be in order for you to keep things clean. Is this a common problem for blind people? What about memory issues?

They basically can do whatever they want because they don't have real competition from anyone. Creators can't say words like "bully" or even "covid" without risk of getting their video demonetized. Now we have to watch Molly whispering the B word.wI was concerned when Google bought DEhave that this would happen, but it is much worse than I expected.

I literally can’t even comprehend how hard it would be to do that, I just skirted by in geometry with a 90, I feel like if I was blind and couldn’t see or properly visualize it I would literally never be able to get the more complex kind where you get like 1 angle and a side length of like a complicated pyramid and you have to find the surface area without even being able to see it!!!!🤯
