I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

  • I love how you care about your viewers! I am on my weight loss journey and like you said I want to make it as a lifestyle change rather than being in a toxic diet. I had bumps here and there committing to a schedule and staying motivated, but the Apptive app have made it easier and it’s blind friendly☺️ If you get a chance, you should try it out for strength, cardio, yoga, Pilates, meditation, and so much more!!

  • The key to a fulfilling low calorie diet one that will keep you happy energetic and full is low calorie foods with a lot of bulk. This means no processed foods (if possible) high protein seeds and nuts (flax and hemp are best) low impact whole grains such as oats because they expand creating bulk, and highly flavored "spices" so you can get by with a small amount and still satisfy taste cravings. I personally don't follow this as I physically can't gain weight due to chronic illnesses, but I have quite a few friends who have used this method and they stay full, happy, and satisfied for hours while taking in less than 2000 calories a day. Just a thought.

  • I'm slightly confused as to why you felt to needed to lose weight if you were a size 4, that's perfectly healthy. If you weren't medically overweight it seems unnecessary. Those calorie amounts seem very low too, even for petite woman!

  • I agree that the scale is your worst enemy.

    Elizabeth ThéorêtElizabeth ThéorêtVor Monat
  • Remember you need at least 1000 milligrams of calcium maximum 1200 milligrams of calcium a day. I don't eat breakfast anymore. I do still step on a scale. I have lost over 50 to 60 in 2 years. It helped me to lose weight is doing the incline on our treadmill at 4.0 miles per hour. Right now I am staying on an 8.5 incline on the treadmill walking 4.0 miles an hour. Remember everyone is different. Just because she is a different size than you are doesn't mean you're over weight. It has to do with your bone structure, or your height or sometimes both your bone structure and height. I am 5'4 or 5'5. I weigh 162 to 166. It flunctuates between there. If I lose more weight, I'd be too skinny. It is because of how big boned I am. I am too big boned to lose anymore weight. I'm nearly vegan nowadays. That's what helped me. I still eat dairy from time to time, mayo with eggs in it from time to time and eggs by them selves from time to time and ranch from time to time which us categorize in the dairy section.

  • I wish I had had this mindset 6 years ago when I had suddenly gained weight (12kg) in a few months and then freaked out and tried to lose it again. I was obsessively counting every calorie in and out and cutting them drastically, but what I was eating to make up the calories I did eat? It was c r a p. Sugary processed stuff. I genuinely did not lose any fat at all when doing that for months, even with such cut calories and exercising religiously, I was insecure and anxious and down on everything about myself. It turns out that a fun thing about the female body is that when you suddenly are eating drastically less, it goes “but what if I need to get pregnant?!?!” And then clings onto your body fat for dear life... I found this out after. 🙃 but I also have learned that 100cal of broccoli has a VERY different effect on the body to 100cal of ice cream, for example. Calories are not created equal in terms of how your body responds to them. What ended up making me lose the weight again was moving countries and starting university, where I guess I stopped thinking about my weight among so many other changes, and ate better again due to a new lifestyle that had started in a new country. As soon as I stopped thinking about it it started to come off. Molly has basically done that - a healthy lifestyle change without worrying so much about all the numbers. 💕

  • Cutting calories shouldn't be controversial. Eating fewer calories (whether or not you count them) is the ONLY way to lose weight. That's just how energy works.

  • That shouldn’t be controversial. 9 times out of 10 you have to put yourself in a caloric deficit to lose weight. The fact is you gained weight by consuming too many calories. Everyone has a basal metabolic rate (BMR) based on their height, gender, and activity level that is the amount they can eat to maintain.

  • I lost 20 lbs over quarantine as well. I love that you pointed out how conflicting it is when people notice the weight change. I always hear “wow, you lost weight” “running changed the shape of your butt and hips” “you look great” but what I actually hear is “you weren’t beautiful when you were over weight” “now you have worth because you lost weight”. Has anyone else experienced this type of confliction with weight loss?

    Avery WellsAvery WellsVor 3 Monate
    • Yes, for some reason people feel it's a compliment to bash how you looked before the weight loss, like it's mandatory that you hate your former self. They're just trying to be nice, I guess. I wish everyone would do less comparing, not only to others but to ourselves, too.

  • I used to be so so SO insecure about my weight and I tried all types of crash dieting and unhealthy eating/dieting practices to lose it and it (obviously) never worked. The only thing that actually worked was learning to love myself enough to want to make a healthy lifestyle change, and I love that you talked about that because it really is the key to getting where you want to go! These videos are so great and you do an amazing job of making it clear that weight gain is not inherently negative, and in fact it can be a reflection of positive changes! I hope anyone who struggles with body image issues finds these videos because they really are so helpful! Thank you for sharing your story with all of us!

The last 15, I'll give myself another 6 months. I'm not really "dieting," I'm just watching my "diet" and eating healthier. I still eat the "crap" foods I love, just not every day. I also love chicken and quinoa and beans and vegetables. I was eating so much fast food before because it was easier for my time. I only way myself once every week or 2. I do want to feel better about myself in the mirror(even though most days, I still feel damn good looking in the mirror) but I also want to see if i have more energy and have less... digestion problems. Lol When I eat better, my stomach feels better and thats something I've had problems with most of my life.

  • The only number that I care about is my fat percentage, this is because I have polycystic ovary syndrome. This means I have a hormone imbalance, I don't process the hormone insulin properly, and the more fat cells I have the more insulin I produce, feeding the imbalance screwing up my periods. I want / need to loose the fat cells to make myself better. It's less about the fact I'm over weight for me, it's more about having easier periods and less time off work because they are so debilitating.

  • Congrats on losing weight in the recent months. I think most people are gaining due to the quarantine and stress eating. hehe Quite an accomplishment! In the past I used to really want to lose weight and never really succeeded. Since 2 years ago I started to gradually lose my vision, and I found myself paying less and less attention to it since I can't really see myself in the mirror too well anymore. I still exercise (walks and hiking, as could no longer go on runs), and it took a while to find a way around the vision loss, but if anything I've probably lost more weight after I stopped paying much attention and just stepping on a scale every couple months or when I see my doctor.

    Sunny WuSunny WuVor 6 Monate
  • I am studying dietetics (just finished my first year) and my lecturers always say that stepping on a scale every day/often is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. Once a month is enough! Also, if you are a woman, it is best to weight yourself every time at the same day of the period cycle because it is most accurate this way (so one time you can weight yourself after 22 days and next time after 27 days, it's ok). The other thing is, weight lost is considered to be safe if you loose MAXIMUM 2,2 pounds (1 kilo) a week (so 8,8 pounds or 4 kilos a month) but commonly people would loose about half of that and it still means you are doing great!!! Hope it made sense, English is not my first language 🙃 - Maria

It makes complete sense to me that you felt more satiated eating the lower calorie nutrient dense meals that you were having. • Hey Molly, so I just wanted to say I'm sorry, & here's why. When I was like 11 (I'm 14 now) I commented on one of your videos (I don't remember which one) something along the lines of "You guys I don't think she's really blind, because she says that she can read the comment section, & she said she can type, don't support her" & looking back at it now I see that there was an insane amount of ignorance, for example 1.) Most modern electronic devices can read to you. Or someone such as your mother can read the comments out loud to you. And saying that you're not blind discredits the struggles you have over come throughout you're life. What you've had to go through in order to get were you are now. 2.) There's brail imprinted on some computer keyboards. Or buy something to put on your keyboards so that they have brail & you know what you're typing out. As well as muscle memory so you can automatically know what you're typing out, (roughly) because you've typed so much 3.) You deserve all the support you've gotten so far & much more. You've always been one of the kindest most compassionate caring, UNPROBLEMATIC people on the internet. From what everyone noticed from you, you always put others feelings before your own. You put people up instead of putting them down. I'm apologise that this apology is sloppy, but most of all I apologise for spreading hate towards you. Someone who's goals are to simply inform, inspire, and spread positive affirmations in this cruel world. Someone like you who is positive to anyone no mater the circumstance. I am not the one who deserves forgiveness, but you are the one that deserves an apology.

It is THE ONLY way to loose weight. if you're eating the exact amount of calories your body needs to burn you will stay the same weight, eat less you loose weight, eat more and you'll gain. this is science and science should not be controversial.

No woman should East less than 1100 calories a day and that's for your specific body (smaller and less active) people don't do it alone.
